We are also pleased to share an update on the progress to date. Exciting milestones have been reached, and things are moving forward towards creating warm, safe, and sustainable homes for our whānau.
Current Progress
- Land Use Consent (LUC) has been approved by the New Plymouth District Council (NPDC).
- Building Consents for both sites have been submitted and are currently in the final stages of processing (day 15 of 20).
- Site Blessing Confirmed – We are preparing for a site blessing on April 5th.
Construction Timeline
- We anticipate setting up the site on April 8th, with earthworks scheduled to begin on April 9th. This marks the start of physical progress on the development.
- Trade Procurement Underway – We are securing contractors and suppliers and have approached Nga Waka Whiria for their involvement in the project.
Community Engagement
- Project Signage & QR Code – Informational signage will be displayed at each site, including a QR code that links to a dedicated webpage with FAQs and project details. This will allow the community and whānau to stay informed and engaged throughout the development.
Cultural Design Integration
- A design meeting was recently held with design firm Tihei, ensuring that cultural values and identity are embedded into the development through Ngati Mutunga’s cultural design framework.
As we move into the construction phase, we will continue to provide updates.
