Strategy Plan Review Wellington and Auckland

Strategy Plan Review Wellington and Auckland

We are pleased to have completed our scheduled regional strategy review discussions. The team visited Christchurch on 4 May, Wellington on 6 July and Auckland on 3 August. The Christchurch session was attended by 22 whānau and led by our Deputy Chair, Brent Matuku, the Wellington session was attended by 24 whānau and led by our Chair Jamie Tuuta and the Auckland session was attended by 34 whānau and led by one of our Trustees Gina Blackburn.

Each of the hui started with an overview of the strategic plan along with video footage to demonstrate how the Rūnanga has implemented the strategy over the last 5 years. The videos provided a great insight into the amount of activity and the types of kaupapa that have been delivered. It has been a privilege to talk with our whānau in these areas and to listen and understand their concerns and more importantly their aspirations.

The key discussions from the hui can be summarised into 4 key areas:

  1. Connection – local connection with Ngāti Mutunga whānau and opportunities to connect with our rohe and whānau in Taranaki.
  2. Education – local opportunities to learn more about our Ngāti Mutungtanga and our connections with other local iwi, capturing korero from our kaumātua and building capability among our whānau.
  3. Communication – receiving regular communication about Ngāti Mutunga kaupapa that are happening locally and in Taranaki with sufficient notice.
  4. Hauora – understanding the services that whānau can access in North Taranaki and to learn more about rongoā.

We appreciated all the feedback received and input provided by all whānau who attended. We encourage whānau to participate in the final Strategy Review session that will be held on Saturday 17 August at the Community Centre in Urenui.

Once all feedback has been received, we will collate it and update our Strategic Plan and present it back to the whānau at the AGM in February 2025.
