Mauri ora e te iwi,
What an amazing Puanga Celebration we had! It was incredibly special to have you all with us at the Urenui Beach camp to reflect on the past year, pay tribute to those who have passed on, connect and reconnect with our wider whānau and to bring in the new year together on our whenua. Our hope for the Puanga celebration was to bring our whānau together, learn together and pass on these teachings to the next generation so that in the future they can confidently step into these roles and carry this kaupapa in the future. It was amazing to see that begin to come to life with our rangatahi pitching in to help cook, and by commencing our Hau Tapu ceremony for us. Thank you to everyone who brought along donations and supported our local Pātaka kai, they were so grateful for your generosity! A big thank you to everyone who helped us throughout the event, from being involved in our ceremony team to helping us with our delicious kai, we really appreciate your assistance. Lastly, thank you to everyone who attended our Hau Tuku and Hau Tapu ceremonies, and for the overwhelmingly positive feedback.
Congratulations to the winners of our Galileo Telescope giveaways – those that registered for this event went into the draw, our winners were Dion Tuuta, Alicia Harrop and Helen Loney
