EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI)
Ngāti Mutunga, Te Atiawa Iwi, and Taranaki Iwi are seeking Expressions of Interest from its young adult members aged between 17yrs to 24yrs (based in the Wellington region) to attend a “meet and greet session” with Jesse Armstrong, Chief Excutive of Vaka Interactive, a cultural storytelling technology and innovation company based in Wellington. Vaka Interactiv create tech. products which are highly engaging and enable communities to gain an insight into culture.
As a background, late May 2019 Ngāti Mutunga, Te Atiawa Iwi and Taranaki Iwi co-ordinated and facilitated a Young Leaders Summit which was hosted at Owae Marae, Waitara. Guest speakers included Jesse Armstrong CE of Vaka Interactiv, who presented a highly engaging session captivating the attendees with creative hands-on activities, highlighting the importance of fostering social and technical skills and bringing cultural validation to individual and group ideas.
The three Iwi entities continue to work together with Vaka Interactiv developing pathways for our young adult community willing to engage with our networks for the benefit and advancement of educational endeavours and potential career opportunities. We are pleased to announce two offerings.
OFFERING ONE: 2hr meet and greet session. This offering is an invitation to meet with Jesse Armstrong and the team at Vaka Interactiv. The date has been confirmed for Tuesday 17th September 10am to 12pm. Ngāti Mutunga, Te Atiawa Iwi and Taranaki Iwi are reaching out to our networks to inform our members of this offering.
OFFERING TWO: Internship Opportunity at Vaka Interactiv. Vaka Interactiv have developed a 10 week internship with their technology company paid at 40 hours p/week at $21.15 p/hr, however you must have recently graduated within the last 6 months from university. The funding has come from Callaghan Innovation and has strict student eligibility criteria which Vaka Interactiv must comply with. The funding providers primarily are looking for either a software development recent grad, a videography recent grad or a web/UX design recent grad. This initiative is being coordinated by Vaka Interactiv, and Ngāti Mutunga, Te Atiawa Iwi and Taranaki Iwi are reaching out to our networks to inform our members.
