Tēnā koutou e te whānau
This year, we released the 2023 Ngāti Mutunga Calendar that features an overview of our rohe. The intention is to begin to delve into the depths of our understanding of place through visual and mental imagery inspired by pictures of sites of importance and traditional understanding of locality.
The calendar begins with our most northern coastal point and then traverses our rohe through visiting key locations along our settlement boundary. Each month in the calendar provides a ‘taki kōrero’ or passage of recitation that acknowledges people and place.
Our hope is that through the combination of the 12 passages of recitation you will have a way to describe your place in this world, your view of how you belong and ultimately a means to express your Ngāti Mutungatanga.
We will be providing three online wānanga this year to provide an insight into the ‘taki kōrero’. The online wānanga will be held on the following dates and times:
- Wednesday, 17 May 2023 at 7.00pm
- Wednesday 9 August 2023 at 7.00pm
- Wednesday 13 December 2023 at 7.00pm
Registered members will receive a campaign email with the link to register for each online wānanga.
